In books, dramas usually get resolutions...

if only real-life would be so accommodating.

This Week's Recommendation

The Last Sun ~ K.D. Edwards.

Atlantis re-emerging in a modern dystopian landscape? Check. Magical and non-magical characters? Check. Best friends who are each other's preferred gender, but are thoroughly platonic? Check. How about the concept of magical soulmates? Check and check.

Rune St. John is the last surviving member of the Sun Court, one of the major courts that make up the loosely strung together alliance that is modern Atlantis. Living outside of his inherited lands, largely by choice, Rune and his bodyguard, Brand make their living doing jobs for Lord Tower, the head of another powerful Atlantean court. The current job? To solve the kidnapping of Lord Tower's godson before it becomes a murder.

The Last Sun is the first book in what the author has said is going to be a 9-book arc and I'll admit that that makes me a bit nervous. I've been burned by series' before. But K.D. Edwards certainly makes a promising start and I'm looking forward to the next book!

Read if: You like a slow-burn paranormal romance. Pretty male leads with a bad sense of self-preservation and a tragic backstory are your thing. You're into magical urban dystopia. You can't help but love the morally gray characters.

Warnings: Very, very gay. Violence. Dysfunctional families. Bullying. Violence. Zombies, kind of? Mentions of sexual trauma/abuse.
