The Return of the Book Posts!

I stumbled across PopSugar's 2015 Reading Challenge back in January, while flipping through posts on my social media feed in the comfortable company of two of my sisters-in-heart. It's an interesting list and I thought that it would be a fun challenge to undertake for the year, pushing me to occasionally use different parameters for my literary choices than normal.

Now, with just a month and a half to go, my list looks something like this:
  1. A book with more than 500 pages
The Providence of Fire - Brian Staveley
  2. A classic romance
What counts as a "classic" romance? This one is stumping me a little bit, since most of the romances I've read also have more than a dash of mystery, science fiction, fantasy, steampunk, or at the very least a modern/historical set of parallel time-lines. Eh, I'll find something!
  3. A book that became a movie
The Maze Runner - James Dashner
  4. A book published this year
The Book of Speculation - Erika Swyler
  5. A book with a number in the title
    The Eight - Katherine Neville
  6. A book written by someone under 30
    Vicious - V.E. Schwab
  7. A book with non-human characters
House of the Rising Sun - Kristen Painter
  8. A funny book
Let's Pretend This Never Happened - Jenny Lawson
  9. A book by a female author
The Little Paris Bookshop - Nina George
  10. A mystery or thriller
Delia's Shadow - Jamie Lee Moyer
  11. A book with a one-word title
    Unbound - Jim C. Hines
  12. A book of short stories
    Trigger Warning - Neil Gaiman
  13. A book set in a different country
A Cup of Friendship - Deborah Rodriguez
  14. A nonfiction book
A Slip of the Keyboard - Terry Pratchett
  15. A popular author's first book
  16. A book from an author you love that you haven't read yet
A Desperate Fortune - Susanna Kearsley
  17. A book a friend recommended
    Stitching Snow - R.C. Lewis
  18. A Pulitzer Prize-winning book

  22. A book that scares you

  23. A book more than 100 years old
The Book of Dragons - E. Nesbit
  24. A book based entirely on its cover
City of a Thousand Dolls - Miriam Forster
  25. A book you were supposed to read in school, but didn't
I suppose this is going to have to be based off an academic system that isn't the one I graduated from - mainly because I can't remember anything from my English or Literature classes that I actively avoided finishing.
  26. A memoir
Post-Traumatic Church Syndrome: A Memoir of Humor and Healing - Reba Riley
  27. A book you can finish in a day
ahahah... ahahahahahahahahah. Ehm. Right. Okay, let's go with...The Darkest Part of the Forest - Holly Black

The Colour of Magic - Terry Pratchett
  31. A book with bad reviews
    Street Magic - Caitlin Kittredge
  32. A trilogy
  33. A book from your childhood
The one entry on this list that will definitely - of necessity - be a re-read.
  34. A book with a love triangle
The Madman's Daughter - Megan Shepherd
  35. A book set in the future
    Orleans - Sherri L. Smith

    Nimona - Noelle Stevenson
  41. A book by an author you've never read before
    Karen Memory - Elizabeth Bear
  42. A book you own but have never read
Hmm! Got a couple possibilities here, this entry will probably sneak in under the wire.
  43. A book that takes place in your hometown
    Ahh the choices...
  44. A book that was originally written in a different language
Labyrinth of Dreaming Books - Walter Moers
  45. A book set during Christmas
  46. A book written by an author with your same initials
Ugh - this one is proving pretty difficult to find. Regardless of which set of initials I use, I've not found a book that looks like I'd find both interesting enough to read AND be able to get from the library.
  47. A play
  48. A banned book
It seems I've read more banned books than I realized. Forth to find new ones!
  49. A book based on or turned into a TV show
    Bitten - Kelley Armstrong
  50. A book you started but never finished
I Thought It Was Just Me - Brene Brown
